Rumble strips have been installed on a 16-mile stretch of Interstate 84 east of Boise, ID.

The monotonous stretch of highway has been the site of 129 single-vehicle crashes between 1995 and 1998, 40% of all the accidents in that location and the highest number of such crashes in southwestern Idaho. Single-vehicle crashes are often the result of drivers nodding off and leaving the roadway, which rumble strips help to prevent.
The stretch in question begins about 15 miles east of Boise near the truck weigh station.
