U.S. Federal Railroad Administrator Jolene Molitoris and Mexico's Transportation Subsecretary Dr. Aaron Dychter Poltolarek have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in improving railroad safety, systems and technology in both countries.
The agreement provides a framework for exchanging information on safety and technology to improve safety in both countries and in cross-border rail operations. The two transportation agencies will also exchange nformation on railroad safety regulations and on innovative partnerships established between rail labor, rail management and rail customers to address safety concerns.
The FRA, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana, one of Mexico's largest railroads, are planning an international training session on safety regulations in Mexico.
