Trans-States Lines, a mid-sized truckload carrier based in Fort Smith, AR, has been purchased by members of its management team.

The purchase of the company was led by William Clark, president and chief executive officer. The shareholders are all veterans of the trucking industry and have been associated with Trans-States Lines for several years.
Trans-States Lines was originally incorporated in 1979 as an operating subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corp. The company is being sold to the new owners by the Hembree family, who have owned the company since 1988.
Nearly all the people currently employed will stay with the new TSL. The company, which will continue to be headquartered in Fort Smith, employees approximately 400 people and owns 300 tractors.
