Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group., Ltd. has entered into an agreement with Norfolk Southern Railway Co. to purchase 620 acres on the east bank of the Mississippi River in Braithwaite, LA.
The company plans to construct a public bulk liquid storage and distribution terminal at the site, including 80 tanks with 1.5 million barrels of storage capacity, along with associated ship, rail and trucking facilities.
The terminal will have multiple ship and barge docks capable of handling vessels from 2,000 to more than 85,000 deadweight tons, in addition to rail and truck infrastructure to handle in the import, export and intra USA distribution of bulk liquid products. The investment is expected to exceed $50 million.
