Trailer shipments through September totaled 210,671 units, down 17.1% from the same period last year, according to the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Assn. and the U.S. Dept. of Commerce.
Shipments by type:
Vans, 166,765, down 20.2%.
Tanks, 4,606, down 1.2%.
Platform, 16,304, up 0.5%.
Bulk commodity, 1,446, down 0.6%.
Pole & logging, 880, down 42.8%.
Low bed heavy haulers, 10,157, up 4.3%.
Dump trailers, 6,955, down 9.3%.
Auto transporters, 150, up 15.4%.
Containers & chassis, 15,447, down 0.4%.
