Intermodal freight at the Canadian port of Vancouver, British Columbia, will be getting back to normal now that a lockout has ended.
Employers and the longshoremen's union have resolved their dispute, which had resulted in freight being rerouted to U.S. ports or over the highways. The union had opposed a company's use of a non-union sulfur-testing firm, but the company in question was not a member of the employers' association.
The Canadian government had prepared legislation to end the dispute, but it was not needed.
