Less-than-truckload carrier Overnite Transportation, Richmond, VA, has started taking delivery of 240 new trucks, the first installment of a $14.45 million purchase from Navistar International.
All 240 trucks will be delivered by February. They include 75 International 9200i Pro Series Hi-Rise sleepers, 150 International 8100 extended-cab daycabs, and 15 9200i special application daycabs for use with highway doubles and triples.
The new tractors are part of a three-year effort to modernize its 4,700-truck fleet. The company has bought more than 1,000 new tractors since 1997. Earlier this year, Overnite accepted delivery of 285 sleepers and daycabs.
Overnite has also placed a $1.39 million order with Nissan Forklifts for 100 propane forklifts. The company has bought 400 new forklifts since Jan. 1.
