The Truckload Carriers Assn. has formed a "Next Generation" management panel to address the concerns of family-owned businesses and succession planning issues. The next meeting will be Nov. 15-16 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, TN.

The meeting is open to both TCA members and non-members. It will address issues such as, should a trucking company owner give or sell his business to his children? What are the best tax strategies to keep the family-owned business profitable when Dad retires? How are succession planning decisions best communicated to employees?
"TCA's new Strategic Plan identified succession planning as a critical management concern of many of our members," says TCA President Lana Batts. "We aren't simply talking about setting up wills. This session will help attendees set ground rules for determining the best way to plan and coordinate the succession of your family business."
All affected family members are invited to attend this meeting. For more information, contact TCA at (703) 838-1950 or bshoemaker@truckload.org. Attendance will be limited.
