The 17th annual Shell SuperRigs truck beauty contest gets under way tomorrow at the Iowa 80 TravelCenters of America in Walcott, IA.

Working trucks will compete for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes and a chance to be on Shell's SuperRigs 2000 calendar. Truckers will be able to compete in Tractor, Tractor-Trailer Combination and Classic categories, with the top 18 rigs receiving awards. A panel of judges, including Newport Communications' Steve Sturgess, will score the entrants on exterior appearance, design, detail and workmanship.
The contest is free. Participants can register on arrival and go through the entry line when they're ready. The judging takes approximately 20 minutes and contestants do not have to be present to win. Judging will take place June 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and June 19 from 8 a.m. to noon.
