Oct. 16 – USA Truck, Van Buren, AR, announced its operating revenues were up 10.3% for the third quarter of 1998 compared to the same quarter of 1997.
It reported the highest net income and diluted net income per share for any quarter in the company’s history.
President and CEO Robert Powell reported the company is “extremely pleased” about the record quarterly profits and an 86.1% operating ratio. However, the company’s growth has been impeded by the driver shortage, he said. To combat this, the company has improved its driver pay package and has contracted with a junior college in one of its major traffic lanes to hire all qualified graduates from its driver training school.
