Oct. 6 – The third annual OPIS Fleet Fueling & Technology Conference, held last month at Nashville’s Opryland Hotel, drew more than 350 top transportation and petroleum professionals. The conference, hosted by Oil Price Information Service, focused on cost-cutting solutions, technological innovations and challenges facing fuel buyers, fleet managers and truckstops.
Keynote speaker Mike Lawrence, CEO of AmeriTruck, discussed what impact carrier consolidations will have on the industry, how fleets must keep up with technology and whether the current economic boom will last. Other topics included tank regulations and planned legislation; the facts and myths behind diesel fuel additives; faster fueling and invoicing technology; solutions for the year 2000 computer glitch; and new truckstop technology.
Cassette tapes are available for this year’s conference. Next year’s expo is being held once again at the Opryland Hotel, Sept. 26-28. For more information, contact Brigette Gebhard at (732) 901-8800, ext. 103.
