Port of Long Beach Repeals Cargo Fee

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners this week unanimously repealed a cargo fee that has been on the Southern California seaport’s books since 2008 but implementation was delayed repeatedly and the fee was never collected.

Supreme Court Partially Upholds ATA in L.A. Port Case

The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the Port of Los Angeles may not impose the placarding and parking requires of its concession plan on trucking companies. This in effect upholds part of the position American Trucking Associations took in pushing for the high court’s review of the port’s concession agreement.

Truckers File Lawsuit Over Independent Contractor Status

Strike Slows Intermodal Traffic at LA-Area Ports

A strike by clerical workers at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach has already diverted several container ships to other ports, and the National Retail Federation has asked President Obama to take action. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 63 Office Clerical Unit has established pickets outside terminals at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach
