The 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles exhibition is set to begin Sept. 25 at the Hanover Fairgrounds in Hanover, Germany. The week-long event runs through Oct. 2 and will feature 2,066 exhibitors from 45 countries and the world premieres of 322 new vehicles and innovations.

The California Air Resources Board announced it settled 256 cases last year involving air quality violations by heavy-duty diesel truck and bus fleets that failed to comply with its various air quality programs with fines totaling nearly $2.2 million.

The California Air Resources Board unveiled proposed amendments to its Truck and Bus Regulation. The amendments are designed to provide new flexibility to truckers working to clean up their aging diesel fleets while still protecting the important emission benefits the regulation provides. CARB members will consider the changes at the April 24 hearing.

A proposed ban on diesel-powered vehicles in the District of Columbia has drawn a strong response from a coalition of trucking industry groups. The coalition warned the D.C. Council that provisions in the recently introduced Sustainable D.C. Omnibus Act of 2013 would have “significantly harmful effects on the District’s economy and on the quality of life of District residents.”
