Portion of I-49 Completed in Arkansas, Louisiana

The final segment of a new Interstate has been completed connecting the cities of Texarkana, Ark., and Shreveport, La. The 10 mile segment of road will be designated as Interstate 49 replacing what was Highway 549 in Arkansas.

Freight Advisory Committee Makes Recommendations to U.S. DOT

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx received a report this week from the Department of Transportation’s National Freight Advisory Committee making 81 recommendations to improve the performance of the nation’s freight transportation system.

DOT Freight Index Near All-Time High

The amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry rose 0.4% in April from March, increasing for the third consecutive month, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Freight Transportation Services Index released Wednesday.
