Phil Byrd Elected 69th Chairman of American Trucking Associations

Phil Byrd, president of Bulldog Hiway Express, Charleston, S.C., is ATA's new chairman.

The board of directors of American Trucking Associations has elected Phil Byrd, president of Bulldog Hiway Express, Charleston, S.C., as the federation’s 69th chairman. It happened Tuesday in Orlando, Fla. during the ATA’s Management Conference and Exhibition.

Volvo, Mack Continue Support of ATA Efforts

Mack Trucks will continue to sponsor the Share the Road highway safety education program in 2014.

Volvo Trucks will remain the sole sponsor in 2014 of the America’s Road Team, the company announced at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla.

Tidewater Transit and MCO Transport Named 2013 Volvo Trucks Safety Award Winners

Tidewater Transit Co. of Kinston, N.C., won the Volvo Trucks Safety Award in the over 20 million miles category

Volvo Trucks once again honored two of its safest customers with the 2013 Volvo Trucks Safety Award during the American Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition. Each fleet was presented $25,000 to be used toward safety-related activities.

Survey Says: Hours of Service Top Trucking Industry Concern

ORLANDO -- The changes to the federal commercial driver hours of service rules that went into effect July 1 caused the issue to top the American Transportation Research Institute's annual survey of more than 4,000 trucking industry executives, truck drivers, trucking industry suppliers and government.
