Wabco has acquired Laydon Composites Ltd., a manufacturer of aerodynamic devices for heavy-duty trucks and trailers based in Oakville, Ontario.

The acquisition will allow Wabco to offer a full range of aerodynamic devices for commercial vehicles in North America through Laydon’s sales network and customer base in the region. In turn, Laydon will be able to expand internationally through Wabco’s global business presence.

The two companies will offer a more comprehensive portfolio of aerodynamic devices for heavy trucks and trailers. Laydon produces collapsible air fairings designed to improve air flow over truck cabs and reduce fuel usage by as much as 12%.

For trailers Laydon offers its Smartway Elite-certified Trailerskirt and nose fairings to reduce drag, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“Both Wabco and LCL are companies that are driven by groundbreaking ideas in aerodynamics for commercial vehicles, and through innovative technologies, expertise and excellence in execution grew to become industry leaders,” said Nick Rens, Wabco president, trailer, aftermarket and off-highway division. “Together, we offer commercial vehicle fleets in international markets the most comprehensive portfolio of aerodynamic products to help them improve operating efficiency and comply with stringent environmental regulations.”
