The California Trucking Assn. has endorsed the pay-for-pass concept of the Heavy Vehicle Electronic License Plate’s (HELP) PrePass system.
California is said to be the first state to deploy PrePass, the electronic clearance system installed at 16 inspection facilities to date. The system records bypass data that is supplied only to carriers.
“Electronic bypass is here now, and it is the future of commercial vehicle operations across the country,” said Joel Anderson, CTA executive vice president. “Help Inc. provides a fair and equitable service that is voluntary. They also ensure that data remains proprietary and used only for the purpose intended.”
