As part of an initiative to better serve truck drivers by understanding what they experience on the road, Comdata executives spent the summer riding with drivers across the U.S.
The Brentwood, TN-based company initiated the program to help identify critical business issues that Comdata can help drivers solve. Due to overall positive reaction from drivers, executives and fleets, the one-time drive is now being incorporated into Comdata’s management training program.
“We want all our managers to learn first-hand from the driver about his or her life on the road,” said Gary Krow, executive vp and general manager. “Therefore, we decided to extend the program and require that certain levels of management do this on regular basis. The drives give us an understanding of the obstacles our drivers face during a trip and give us a better understanding of the products and services that would clear those obstacles from their path.”
