Western Star Trucks Holdings Ltd. shareholders have approved a $670 million takeover offer from Freightliner.

The Kelowna, B.C., company's shareholders voted 99 percent in favor of the acquisition, which, pending final court approval, will be completed Sept. 26.
The $465 million deal was announced July 19.
According to the Vancouver Sun, the deal is an unexpected windfall for the British Columbia government, which invested $60 million in Western Star last year to help the truckmaker build a new manufacturing facility in Kelowna.
