Overnite Transportation Company, Richmond, Va., announced yesterday that the Teamsters union withdrew from a representative election scheduled for today at the company’s Syracuse, N.Y., Service Center.
In a company issued press release, Overnite said the company was notified by the National Labor Relations Board, and as a result of the union's withdrawal, the election has been canceled.
The Teamsters have withdrawn from a scheduled election at an Overnite facility three times this year, according to the less-than-truckload company. The union has been waging an unfair labor practices strike against Overnite since late October and has been trying to organize the company for going on five years.
