Roadway Express, Akron, OH, has expanded its Mexican operations with the opening of three new service terminals. A new Juarez terminal creates a new gateway into Mexico at the El Paso, TX/Juarez, MX border crossing, while new Chihuahua and Torreon facilities are new local service terminals within the interior of Mexico.
The Juarez terminal will provide service to Roadway's existing satellite terminals in the interior of Mexico, whose customers use the El Paso/Juarez crossing. This new gateway will serve the large maquila industry between Chihuahua and the border. The existing Roadway El Paso facility and Juarez will be twin terminals, duplicating the company's current Laredo/Nuevo Laredo model to provide service to and from Mexico.
Roadway's wholly owned subsidiary, Roadway Express, S.A. de C.V., now includes nine terminals serving key industrial and manufacturing cities. Roadway manages a dedicated fleet of equipment with satellite tracking in its vehicles, an entire work force trained in Roadway's systems and quality management, and complete access to Roadway's vast information
technology system.
