WebTransport, Dallas, TX is beta-testing an online trading exchange targeted at small-to-mid-sized carriers and shippers which is expected to go live in June.
TransportCentral.com claims to reduce operating costs and create efficiencies by offering a fully integrated matching exchange and business management portal.
It includes an online freight matching and decision support function. Through an online request and profiling process, the site seamlessly connects carriers and shippers.
Benefits are said to include reduction of process inefficiencies and administrative expenses; automation of contracts, bill of lading and proof-of-delivery documentation; a carrier and shipper rating system for quality management; and freight auditing and automation of payment.
Additional features are expected to include data exchange between shippers and carriers; scheduling; asset tracking and tracing; fuel, load and route optimization; financial services and communication packages; and negotiated group purchasing of supplies and equipment.
