TrucktireXchange.com has debuted on the web, offering to streamline the process of locating, purchasing and selling new and retread truck tires. The business-to-business e-commerce site is intended to help some 4,500 independent tire dealers and more than 75 distributors in the United States and Canada.
Located at www.trucktirexchange.com, the site features search capability by tire size, make, model and position on vehicle. Shoppers (and sellers) can specify new or retread. The site also offers up-to-the-minute commercial tire news including market reports on pricing, forecasting, product movement and unfilled inventory.
Members can post their own inventories, post wanted tires or search the total available inventory in real time. Membership is free. The exchange earns revenue through a 3-percent transaction fee charged to the sellers. Purchases can be made as a straight sale or through auction.
TrucktireXchange.com offers Bud-eNet, software that allows members to specify companies they would prefer to do business with. Those inventories will be searched first. If the buyer does not find what he or she is looking for, they can then access the entire exchange inventory.
TrucktireXchange.com executives anticipate just-in-time shipping on products purchased through the exchange will allow tire dealers to free up floor space dedicated to inventory.
