Nearly 400 union members participated in a march and rally in Dayton, OH, Thursday to show their support for the Teamsters' three-month-old strike against Overnite Transportation.

John Sweeney, president of the AFL-CIO, led the march and rally. Sweeney last week announced the union was giving the Teamsters $500,000 to help step up the campaign against the less-than-truckload carrier.
Ed Fire, president of the International Union of Electronic Workers, also helped lead the march and rally. The IUE has contributed $25,000 to the Teamsters and is adding another $50,000.
Led by a tractor-trailer, the demonstrators carried picket signs and marched down a blocked-off road near the Overnite terminal and into a parking lot for the 20-minute rally, reported the Associated Press.
