HighwayMaster Communications reported a 50% increase in revenues for 1999 and a 67% reduction in net losses.

Revenues for the year were $95.5 million versus $63.3 million for 1998. Net loss, including $3.5 million in non-recurring items, was $11.5 million versus $35.1 million in 1998.
Fourth quarter 1999 revenue was $16.1 million versus $14.7 million fourth quarter 1998. Nes loss was $5.9 million versus $9.1 million a year earlier.
HighwayMaster President and CEO Jana Bell said the improved performance puts the Richardson, TX, based company in good position to compete effectively in trucking's wireless voice and data communications market.
"We are optimistic about our ability to successfully undertake upcoming projects, such as our recently anounced regional service vehicle installation project for which we expect to install over 28,000 units for SBC Communications," Bell said.
At the end of 1999, HighwayMaster had 50,825 mobile units in operation. The total a year earlier was 47,675.
