Orders from Western Star have more than doubled production of Class 7 trucks by Mexico's Consorcio G. Grupo Dina S.A. de C.V., according to Starks News Service.

Dina had been building eight Class 7 trucks a day before the joint manufacturing deal with Western Star. At full production, expected by late April, the build rate will be 18 units per day -- including 10 units a day for Western Star.
The 10-year contract calls for 9,000 trucks during the first three years. Western Star sells the trucks under its own nameplate in the U.S. and Australia. Dina-branded trucks are sold in Mexico.
