Truckload giant Landstar System has introduced it's own online load finding service through wholly owned subsidiary Signature Technology Services, Inc.

Available Feb. 1, eFr8.com will allow users to pre-program a system of alerts to search for loads and trucks, even when they're not on-line. The system uses "push" technology to provide specific on-line searches for available freight or trucks, then delivers the information to users via phone, fax, e-mail or pager e-mail.
Landstar executive vp and CFO Henry Gerkens described the service as "a faster, more convenient way to outsource additional capacity at a competitive cost. It is a valuable outlet for shippers looking to increase their capacity and truck operators to fill their excess capacity." The secured site will allows users to manage their own account information with customized log-in ID's and passwords, and provide the necessary software for automated mass downloading of available freight information. STSI is launching eFr8.com with free service through April 1, 2000.
