About 50 Florida truck drivers have been bitten by the Y2K computer bug a bit early. They recently received bills saying they were 100 years overdue in paying their registration fees.

John E. Campbell of Tavares is one of the truckers who received the bills. "If payment is not received before February 11, 1900," a $300 penalty would be added, the bill said.
Tom Joyce, assistant director of the Division of Motor Vehicles, says the department caught the error and will notify truckers. They won't have to pay a late fee as long as the payments are received by the due dates in 2000.
