Landstar System, Jacksonville, FL, has been recognized by InformationWeek magazine as a leader among the nation's largest and most innovative information technology users.

This year, Landstar was ranked 93rd in the top InformationWeek 500 Leading Innovative Companies and sixth among transportation industry leaders.
Transportation companies named in InformationWeek's survey range from rail and airline to expedite and full service transportation services companies, like Landstar. More than 80% of those transportation companies named provide customer and selling services on the Internet.
According to InformationWeek Editor Stephanie Stahl, the companies profiled in the eleventh annual study stand out for their innovative use of technology to create business value and help drive change in their industry as a whole. The magazine's editors based their decisions on extensive mail, phone, and fax surveys in addition to interviews with senior information technology executives at each company about priorities and budgeting plans for the future. Only companies with a least $1 billion in annual revenue were considered.
The highest third in each category received gold medals. Landstar earned top honors in two categories, E-business and customer management, with silver medals for application development and business processes/enterprise resource planning.
The results of the innovators' annual survey were published in the September issue of InformationWeek magazine.
