Big Main Truck Stop near Albany, NY, celebrated its grand re-opening last week - no automobiles invited.

The truckstop, located off Thruway Exit 23, is open 24 hours a day. It features the diesel pumps, washers and dryers, showers, lounge and game room similar to other truckstops around the country. Missing, however, are gasoline pumps or other features that cater to automobile drivers, reports the Albany (NY) Times Union.
At a time when most big truckstop chains are reaching out even more to motorists and RVs, Big Main specializes in taking care of truckers. The truckstop was vacant for a year before being bought last summer by Main Care Energy, which operates several automated fuel stops in the area.
Hunger pangs can be satiated by G&P's Restaurant in the same building. This small diner featuring American and Greek foods. The diner is currently open from 6 a.m. to midnight, but owner George Tsirakis, who says 85% of his customers are truckers, plans to eventually be open 24 hours a day.
The new owners are working to recapture business that had abandoned the truckstop before it closed. Then known as the Big M, the truckstop had the reputation for not being very clean. Now truckers say its showers are some of the cleanest they've ever seen.
