A group of Hispanic truckers in Florida have formed an association to help find affordable health insurance and cheaper truck parts. They are making their public debut tomorrow with a truck show in the Orlando area.

The Florida Hispanic Truckers Assn. formed in March, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Most of its 150 members were truckers in their native Latin American homelands. The association is based in the west Orange County community of Pine Hills.
About 200 trucks are expected at Saturday's show, being held from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Central Florida Fairgrounds on West Colonial Drive in Orlando. In addition to trucks participating in competitions and demonstrations, there will be food and music, as well as a booth where self-employed truckers can get tax advice.
Most of the association's members haul construction material, such as sand and gravel, as independent truckers. The association helps member with language barriers, cheaper health insurance, truck parts, and legal and business advice. There are also recreational activities, such as soccer leagues. Chapters are being set up in Tampa and Miami.
