NATSO, the association representing truckstops and travel plazas, honored long-time truckstop operator Fred Bosselman Wednesday with its Distinguished Member award.

Bosselman’s truckstop career dates back to 1948, when Fred and his wife, Maxine, began serving the traveling public at the Bosselman and Eaton Truck Stop in Grand Island, NE. Fifty years have gone by, and the company has grown to include a diverse group of holdings, including four travel centers in Nebraska, one in Kansas and one in Iowa. A second and third generation of the Bosselman family now help guide the day-to-day operation of the various divisions of the company.
The award was announced during NATSO’s change of command banquet during its annual convention in Phoenix. A video of interviews with family, friends and colleagues characterized Bosselman as hard working, a family man – and a mediocre golfer. “Fred’s main interest is selling fuel,” said one, “but he finally learned to play at golf.”
