Dec. 11 – Nebraska has added a high-tech scale bypass system at its eastbound North Platte weigh station on Interstate 80.

PrePass allows trucks owned by enrolled companies to be weighed and have operating credentials checked while traveling at highway speed. The information is provided with the help of a computer database and a small transponder on the truck’s windshield.
Nebraska is the 14th state to install PrePass, which was launched in 1995 in California. More than 58,000 trucks across the country are enrolled.
