Nov. 3 – The American Trucking Assns. elected its new chairman at its 1998 management conference held last week in New Orleans.
ATA’s new chairman is John E. Wren, chairman and chief executive officer of Lakeville Motor Express, a less-than-truckload carrier based in Roseville, MN. Wren was most recently ATA’s first vice chairman, and headed the committee that drafted the sweeping changes at ATA following the departure of CEO Tom Donohue.
Wren began his career in the family trucking business at age 12, sweeping floors and fueling trucks. He was named president of Lakeville in 1979. Today the company employs about 300 people and operates 120 trucks in seven states.
