Earnings Watch: Volvo Says Net Profit Falls, Announces Fine in EU Probe

The Swedish parent to truck brands Volvo, Mack and others reported its second quarter profit slid from a year ago due to lower sales in many parts of the world and has downwardly revised its expectations in North America.

Volvo Refines 2017 Engines, Adds Crawler-Gear Option for I-Shift

Engines will include refined D11 and D13 diesels and a previously improved D16. A turbo compounded D13 TC will have a second turbocharger linked to the crankshaft, adding as much as 50 hp and 4% in fuel economy.

Volvo's Adaptive Loading axle system turns a 6x2 into a 4x2 when the extra axle in the tractor tandem isn't needed. When it comes to fuel efficiency, 2 is definitely better than 4.

AB Volvo’s board of directors has named a Scania executive, Martin Lundstedt, as the president and chief executive officer of the Volvo Group, replacing Olof Persson, who has led the group for almost four years but is out immediately. Volvo Group is the corporate parent of Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in North America.

N.Y. Updates Eligible Vehicles for Alternative Fueled Truck Voucher Program
