Paccar Adds Drive Axle, Updates Engines

The MX-13 has dropped 50 pounds and now offers up to 510 hp and 1,850 lb-ft of torque.

LAS VEGAS — In a step toward more integrated drivetrains in Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks, Paccar announced a new 40,000-pound tandem axle that saves weight and improves fuel economy.

Cummins: New X15 Engine Offers High Performance, Economy, Reliability

X15 diesels showed quick throttle response and strong acceleration on the TRC's tracks. Engine brakes were impressively strong, even at low rpm's.

Cummins officials say their next-generation X15 heavy-duty diesel series will offer new value through economy, performance, reliability and support when it replaces existing ISX15 models in January 2017. A year later, a new X12 will supersede the current ISX12.

Nissan to Offer Gasoline-Powered V-8 for Titan XD

Nissan's advanced 5.6-liter Endurance gasoline V-8 is being built in southern Tennessee.

Nissan's new engine features four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing and direct fuel injection, and is rated at 390 hp at 5,800 rpm and 401 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Daimler Trucks Friday announced a $375 million investment to enable production of the new DD5 and DD8 medium-duty engines at Detroit’s Redford, Mich., plant, and officially launched production of the Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission.

Paccar Makes 100,000th MX-13 Engine

Representatives from AMG Peterbilt of Columbus, Kenan Advantage Group, Paccar Engines and Peterbilt Motors celebrated the production of the 100,000th Paccar MX-13 engine.

The 100,000th Paccar MX-13 engine produced for North America was recently presented to Kenan Advantage Group, which will operate it in a Peterbilt Model 579.
