Suit Alleges Defective CNG Equipment Caused Truck to Burn

The vehicle was only five months old and had been run only 3,000 miles before it caught fire during an ordinary customer run, the suit claims. The manufacturers say nothing was wrong with the equipment.

Two companies report they're on the brink of commercializing low-pressure dispensing and storage of compressed natural gas through carbon adsorption, which they say will keep the fuel cheaper and make filling stations a reality even for small fleets.

EPA Certifies Altech-Eco's CNG Transit Van

Altech-Eco has received certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to produce a dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG) version of the 2015 Ford Transit 150/250/350 3.7L van and wagon with the Ford gaseous prepped engine option.

The increased output of the Cummins-Westport ISX12 G will open new markets to the 114SD, including mixer, dump, and roll-off applications. At 400 horsepower and 1,450 pounds-feet, the IXS12 G is an ideal engine for the severe-duty market, where natural gas is fast becoming an alternative to diesel fuel.

CNG Vehicles Affected by Fuel Tank Pressure Relief Valve Recall

Certain pressure relief valves for use on compressed natural gas fuel tanks are being recalled by Circor, which does business as Circle Seal Controls. The affected valves have O-rings that could fail after being exposed to cold temperatures, allowing natural gas to leak from the fuel tank.

Oklahoma, Dallas Order 321 Bi-Fuel F-150s as Demand for Natural Gas Grows

The State of Oklahoma, its agencies and the City of Dallas have ordered a total of 321 Ford F-150 pickups that can run on compressed natural gas or gasoline, according to Ford, which also said that demand for gas is growing strongly.

Chevy Unveils City Express Van, Expands Silverado HD Bi-Fuel Offerings

Chevy City Express will compete against Nissan’s NV200, on which the new small Chevy van is based, and against Ford’s Transit Connect.

CNG-gasoline capability will be available in all cab and pickup bed sizes in 2500 and 3500 HD series, while compact van offers economy and cargo-carrying capability, GM says.
