GM to Use 8-Speed Hydra-Matic in Some 1500-Series Pickups

The Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed is approximately the same size and weight as the 6L80 six-speed automatic, an announcement said, but has a wider 7.0 overall gear ratio spread.

GM Claims Highest Power Ratings for Midsize Colorado/Canyon

Horsepower and torque ratings announced by General Motors will make its 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups the most powerful in the midsized truck segment, the company claims.

Chevy Unveils City Express Van, Expands Silverado HD Bi-Fuel Offerings

Chevy City Express will compete against Nissan’s NV200, on which the new small Chevy van is based, and against Ford’s Transit Connect.

CNG-gasoline capability will be available in all cab and pickup bed sizes in 2500 and 3500 HD series, while compact van offers economy and cargo-carrying capability, GM says.

GM to Buy Small Cargo Vans from Nissan for U.S., Canada Markets

Chevy City Express will be based on Nissan’s NV200 compact van. It goes on sale in fall of 2014 as a 2015 model.

General Motors and Nissan announced today that they have signed an agreement for Nissan to produce a small cargo van that GM will sell in the United States and Canada. It will be called the City Express and be sold by Chevrolet dealers.
