Cummins Celebrates 40 years in Jamestown, N.Y.

Cummins' Jamestown, N.Y., engine plant has been producing diesel engines for 40 years. Friday, Cummins celebrated the 40th anniversary of the facility. Current production at the 1-million-square-foot facility includes the ISX15 as well as the ISX12 and ISM diesel engines, along with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G spark-ignited natural gas engine.

Poll: Americans Want More Fuel Efficient Trucks

While Congress is out on vacation, one lobby group is reminding lawmakers while they are out talking with voters back home that a large majority of Americans favor requiring truck manufacturers to increase the fuel economy of large trucks, at least according to its poll.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District has selected a company to install a catenary system, essentially overhead electrical lines, which supplies trucks with electric power, similar to how modern day trolleys or streetcars are powered on many city streets, while still offering the same flexibility as diesel trucks.

The increased output of the Cummins-Westport ISX12 G will open new markets to the 114SD, including mixer, dump, and roll-off applications. Aluminum Parts Save 707 Pounds in F-150 Weigh-In

Ford executives showed two trucks on scales to demonstrate the light-weighting of the new truck when compared to the 2014 model-year version.

A 2015 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 with a 2.7L V-6 EcoBoost engine scaled at 4,942 pounds, while a comparable 2014 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 with a 5.0L V-8 weighed 5,674 pounds.
