Volvo Demos Active Driver Assist, Available on VN Series

Car ahead slowed and stopped, but Volvo's ADA, aka Bendix Wingman Fusion Advanced, avoided a collision without driver input except steering.

Called Wingman Fusion by Bendix, the system uses radar and a forward-facing camera to detect and identify obstacles ahead, then warn the driver and soon apply the brakes.

Navistar's platooning rigs stayed 15 to 30 meters apart during demonstration on the grounds' 3-mile oval track. Automated steering, also called "lateral control," is among the active features.
