Melton Truck Lines, a flatbed carrier based in Tulsa, Okla., has announced pay increases for all of its company drivers as well as a performance-based bonus.

Melton drivers will receive a 2 cents-per-mile pay increase, a 25% increase in tarp pay to $50, and repower pay. This starts student drivers at 43 cents per mile and gives experienced drivers up to 56 cents per mile.

“In designing this pay increase, we conducted a companywide driver pay survey to gain further insight into what our drivers would like to see changed in their overall compensation package,” said Bob Peterson, chairman and CEO of Melton. “Our leaders reviewed these suggestions carefully and feel these changes reflect our drivers’ requests, resulting in further financial success for them.”

Melton drivers will also be able to earn additional pay through a $5,400 performance bonus. The company also offers an additional 8 cents per mile for over-dimensional loads and an extra 6 cents per mile for Canada and Hazmat loads.

Melton also offers drivers guaranteed pay for their first 90 days to provide financial security for new drivers as they learn the job.

For benefits, Melton also offers drivers free onsite clinics and dentists, a 401(k), and opportunities for profit sharing.

“Our professional drivers have certainly earned this well-deserved raise,” said Peterson. “They are continually striving for excellence in a demanding, yet highly rewarding career path.”
