Boyd Bros. Transportation unveiled a new type of truck driving position that it says overhauls traditional irregular route, flatbed, over the road trucking in order to give experienced flatbed drivers a more predictable driving job.

The new position is part of the company’s new Mission Fleet for experienced drivers. Drivers can earn a $1,300 weekly salary and have guaranteed 48 hours of home time each week between Friday and Sunday. The drivers will use a paid time-off system for sick leave and vacation time based on employment.

“We’re putting together a team of some of the industry’s premier drivers for the Mission Fleet,” said Chris Cooper, president of Boyd Companies and CEO of Boyd Bros. Transportation. “This new kind of position will maximize their driving and home time as well as boost earning potential in order to enhance the total driver experience. Creating better careers is a top goal for us.”

Boyd Bros. will measure the fleet’s profitability, ability to meet home time demands and overall driver satisfaction to determine whether this type of driving position is viable on a larger scale. With success, the company plans to expand similar opportunities geographically.

Currently the company his hiring for the Mission Fleet in Nashville, Tennessee, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Birmingham, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina. To be eligible for the position, drivers  must live within the hiring area and have a minimum of 1-year of flatbed driving experience within the last four years.
