The American Transportation Research Instituted is still looking for carrier and driver participation in a set of surveys it launched with the Mayo Clinic on the impact tjhat the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners has had on the DOT medical exam process.

ATRI and the Mayo Clinic initatiated the set of surveys last month on NRCME and the surveys will remain open to carriers and drivers through Oct. 21, 2016. The research collaboration between ATRI and the Mayo Clinic will quantify how effective the NRCME process is in improving the DOT physical exam process and ensuring that medical examiners understand FMCSA regulations and guidance for issuing medical certificates.

The NRCME was launched in 2014 and since then, medical examiners performing DOT physicals are required to take an approved course, pass an exam, and be listed in the registry before issuing medical certificates.

The research includes three separate date collection surveys, one each for carriers, drivers, and medical examiners. The first two surveys for carriers and drivers are available on ATRI’s website. Mayo Clinic distributed the third survey to medical examiners through their targeted network.

Carriers and drivers are encouraged to complete the confidential surveys, available here
