KeepTruckin has completed the certification process for its electronic logging device offering, allowing the ELD to be officially registered by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Through product development and testing, KeepTruckin ensured that its ELD is in full compliance with the 516 pages of requirements in the ELD mandate. As a result, KeepTruckin is now listed as an approved ELD vendor by FMCSA.

On the company’s blog, KeepTruckin listed a few of the features its ELD solution needed to have in order to be compliant with the ELD mandate.

These required features included the ability to record any time a truck is in motion when a driver had not specifically logged into the ELD. In those instances, the operation is attributed to an unidentified driver and upon logging into or connecting to a vehicle, the driver is shown the unidentified driving segments that have been accumulated over the past 24 hours and 7 days.

Other compliant features include data transmission to DOT officers through telematic data transfer methods, offline geolocation, automatic changes in duty status when a vehicle is moving faster than 5 miles per hour, special driving categories and others.

KeepTruckin’s ELD and companion Electronic Logbook App are designed to automatically record driving time. The ELD plugs into a vehicle’s diagnostic port and the app connects to the device through Bluetooth.
