Road crews are closing lanes on Interstate 65 in Franklin, Tenn., from Oct. 11-12 as they do bridge repairs at State Route 248 on the Peytonsville/Goose Creek Bypass.

Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interstate 65 northbound will be closed, and the southbound lanes will have brief rolling roadblocks. On Sunday from 6:30 p.m. through 1 p.m. the southbound lanes will be closed.

The operation will likely create lengthy delays along Interstate 65. Traffic will be detoured depending on direction of travel and the day. Interstate ramps on State Route 248 will be accessible but the Tennessee Department of Transportation is urging drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes if possible.

The lane closures are necessary to set steel beams for a new bridge. They will also begin an effort to restore two structures that were destroyed in a tanker fire in August. The work is part of a $46 million project to widen Interstate 65 between State Route 840 and State Route 248, modify the interchange and widen the roadway on State Route 248.

Tennessee Highway Patrol and TDOT Help trucks will be on-site to assist with any traffic problems.
