Shorepower Technologies now has full control of the Shorepower Truck Electrification Project. Previously, the grant was administered by a third party (Cascade Sierra Solutions) who has since closed their doors. With the takeover and new campaign, Shorepower says it will be able to provide better service and improved reliability, while increasing education and outreach to drivers and fleets.

Shorepower operates power pedestals at 62 locations across the nation (50 STEP sites plus 12 others), providing both 120-volt and 208-volt cab power as well as 460-volt electric standby power for refrigerated trailers.

“Thanks to the new campaign, the Shorepower network will be stronger than ever, helping drivers save money and make their rest periods more comfortable," said Jeff Kim, President and CEO of Shorepower. "We are launching a number of initiatives including improved reliability, better signage, dedicated parking and on-site personnel to assist drivers.”

The $10 million project was funded by the U. S. Department of Energy as part of the Recovery Act (ARRA). DOE’s primary intent is to reduce the use of diesel fuel, which reduces U. S. dependence on foreign oil.
