A barrier replacement project on I-65 in Louisville, Ky. will close the left lanes of the roadway. Trucks will be required to detour the area to minimize congestion.

The work takes place on a 4.2-mile stretch of Interstate 65 between downtown Louisville and the Watterson Expressway. Work began on Friday and runs through April 9.

Trucks traveling northbound will be detoured to westbound Interstate 264 to eastbound Interstate 64 and back to I-65. Southbound trucks coming from southern Indiana will be detoured to westbound I-64 to eastbound I-264 and back to I-65.

The $22 million project will build a new 50-inch-high concrete median barrier on the four-mile-stretch of I-65. The stretch of I-65 between downtown and the Watterson sees about 130,000 vehicles per day.
