Interstate 57 northbound from from Mile Marker 93 to Mile Marker 96 in Illinois' Jefferson County will be reduced to one lane starting Thurs. March 29 through Nov. 1.

The lane reduction will facilitate the reconstruction and addition of the northbound lanes, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The northbound entrance and exit ramps at Veterans Drive will be closed during this time. The northbound entrance and exit ramps at IL Route 15 will remain open.

Motorists should expect major delays, the agency says. It advises motorists to reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution when traveling through this area. To avoid any delays motorists should seek an alternate route.

Motorists traveling I-57 northbound to I-64 westbound should consider Illinois Route 154 at Mile Marker 77.

Motorists traveling I-64 westbound should consider Illinois Route 37 at Mile Marker 80.
