A rock slide near Exit 451 on I-40 West closed the road near US 276, Exit 20, West of Asheville, N.C., in Haywood County near the Tennessee state line.

At this time, the Tennessee Department of Transportation expects the westbound road to remain closed until Feb. 14 as crews work to stabilize the area of the slide.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation advises drivers traveling west to Tennessee to take I-40 West to I-240 West (Exit 53b) in Asheville, to I-26 West (Exit 4a). Follow I-26 West from Asheville to I-81 South (Exit 8a) in Tennessee, back to I-40. A map of the detour can be found here.
