LinkAmerica, Tulsa, Okla., will buy 575 new trucks and trailers in a bid to improve service and enhance recruiting and retention efforts.

This inclused tractors from Freightliner and Peterbilt, as well as 53-foot plate trailers from Stoughton.

Refreshing the fleet and doing more to attract drivers were key goals set when the company was acquired by Tenex Capital Management last year, The Journal of Commerce reports. LinkAmerica president and CEO, John Simone says the upgrade will replace about 20% of LinkAmerica's equipment fleet.

Difficulty recruiting truck drivers "is one of the challenges that keeps me awake at night," Simone said in an interview with JOC last August.
